Honors Convocation

This past Thursday, April 26, CBC had the Honors Convocation for juniors and seniors. This ceremony is mainly for those who have achieved the First Honors on their report cards during the first semester.

In order to achieve the First Honors, a student must have a current GPA of 3.75 or better for that semester.

However, the students who received First Honors were not the only ones the ceremony was about. A number of other awards were given out as well.

First in the ceremony, the new officers of the National Honors Society were introduced and inducted into their leadership roles of President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Secretary, and Sargent-at-Arms. Respectively, those inducted were juniors Thomas Ignaczak, James Long, Jacob Helt, Taylor Lang, and Connor Murphy.

After the induction, those seniors involved in the Honors Program were recognized for their hard work and continuous participation in the program through their four years here at CBC.

Also, there were a number of awards handed out, including the US Military Academy West Point Appointment from West Point Academy. It was given to Dominic Gatti, a senior who has been accepted at West Point for the following director. This award was presented by Mr. Pat Flachs, a CBC alumnus who went to West Point in the past.

Other awards presented included a number of book awards given for recognition in English, fine arts, history, science, math, language, and business classes.

Finally, those who had received First Honors on their first semester report card were acknowledged. Those who were recognized for achieving this honor included 60 juniors and 54 seniors, impressive numbers to say the least.
