Spring is in the air, and the Tennis season is in full swing. I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the varsity team’s best players, Mike Tracy.
How is the Tennis Team doing this season?
Currently we have a 6-2 record. We have shown some great talent from our team. Our number one player on our team, Alex Pozo, is still undefeated and showing good signs coming into the end of the season. We have also have some key sophomore, junior and senior players including Grant Vogel, Pat Myers, Glen Ryan, Max Leach, Erik Hanson, Alec Maglione, and Alex Breedan. We have had some great matches so far and hope to go far into post-season play.
Are any major matches coming up?
Yes we do. We have a match against MICDS and Parkway Central coming up on May 2nd and May 3rd. These are two teams have given us a good match in the past and it will probably be a high contested match.
Are there any promising newcomers?
Our sophomores this year are really stepping up in their varsity roles. They have all shown great skill in playing in such high spots on the team. Over 75% of our team is made up of sophomores which is good for CBC tennis in the future and will help us go far this year. Also our JV players have done really well against their competition this year and they are showing promising signs for the future.
How often does the team practice?
The team practices every day after school that we do not have a match. We get off only when it rains.
How have YOU been doing this season?
This season has been difficult for me. I have not been playing to my ability which is very frustrating, especially because I have not been able to contribute to the team’s success as in the past.
