Senior Matt Sieckhaus has been playing center forward for the CBC varsity hockey team since his freshman year.
“As a center, I am responsible for playing strong defense, but my main goal is to create scoring opportunities for my line while helping out the defense.

“The intensity of playing center in my opinion is the most intense position on the ice, from winning face-offs to scoring goals. The center has an important job.”

“This year’s team is a lot younger, but has great potential. Last year’s team was great, but I think this year we can become just as great or if not better than we were.”

“We prepared for this season the same way we always do, but this year we have something to prove. I think we are the best team in the area, but we have to play at the top of or game for the rest of the season.”

“We have many leaders of the team this year, but I think the main three are the captains: Adam Clark, Clark Kuster, and me. Just from being the captains, we have a big responsibility and have to make sure we are at the top of our game every night.”

“We do not have one real goal scorer this year; we have many guys who chip in and who can put the puck in the net. We have three strong lines that can contribute each game.”
“I think our strong goal tending has had a big impact on the team this year. I think that our two freshman forwards, Vince and Drew have made a great impact on the team. They both get a lot of time as freshman, and are very skilled.”

“The team’s expectations, I think, are the same as the student body’s. Each year our expectation is to be playing in the last game of the year, and hopefully win it.”

“Definitely, having big crowds and loud fans helps the team get excited and motivated to play a strong game.”

“I think brotherhood plays a big role in the team. Each player has the back of another, and we trust in our teammates. Brotherhood is a must in order to be successful in hockey.”
