The CBC C-basketball team ended with a record of 8-11. Even though they may not have had a winning season, they showed plenty of heart and they also had a team full of hard workers.
Starting point guard Kyron Norman believed the team came together as the season progressed. “Yeah, we seemed to become stronger on and off of the court as the season came to an end. I wish we could’ve gotten this started a little bit earlier in the season.”
Who would Norman like to see take the game winning shot in the fourth quarter with 10 seconds to go?
He answered with a laugh and said ,“My boy Mike (Venturella) without a doubt.”
Venturella was the team’s leading scorer throughout the year.
Meanwhile the D-Team finished off its season strong with a record of 15-5. Some of their noticeable wins were against Chaminade, Desmet, and Parkway West.
Going back to the C-Team some of their key rebounders were Trevon Johnson and Marcus Wheat. Some of their key defensive players were Michael Venturella, Jordan Wheat, and D’Autrail Peppers.
As I was watching this team throughout the season I noticed that Coach Dimivitz taught these players how to keep their composure on the court when things weren’t going their way. Also, something that was very interesting to watch as they played was to see that everybody on the team had a high IQ on the court.
When asked the question “What do you think the practices were like?” Jonathon Owens answered “ I think they were very playful and that if we went harder in practice we could’ve been a better team.” When Conner Sendobry was asked this same question he answered “We ran a lot and that we always worked hard.”
I asked another guard on the team (Jonathon Parker) “What do you think about the team as a whole as the season began to end?” He answered very calmly “I think that the team did okay this season but if were more serious in practice we would’ve did a lot better throughout the season”
I asked one of the top defensive players and rebounders on the team Rashad Young, “What game do you think your team played the best and came together the most in?” He answered “ Pattonville because this was one of those games that everybody came together as a team and played their best” The final score of that game was 57 to 43 going in pattonville’s way.
Aarion Maxey was another C-team member that joined the team towards the end of the season. I asked him “Do you think you made a impact in a positive or negative way once you came back of the team?” He immediately answered, “Defiantly Positive because I brought more chemistry to the team with my passes and with my defense.”
Trevon Johnson was also another member that joined the team later in the season due to an injury. I asked him what do you think the practices were like and he answered playfully, “They were fun and we always worked hard and had a good time!”
